युवाओं द्वारा स्ट्रॉबेरी की खेती के सफल प्रयास
लखनऊ के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में स्ट्रॉबेरी की खेती अपनी पहचान बना रही है और विशेषकर युवा आय सृजन के लिए एक प्रमुख फसल के रूप में स्वीकार कर रहे हैं| इसकी खेती लखनऊ के आसपास लगभग दो दशकों से हो रही है परंतु विगत 3 सालों में जो उत्साह किसानों ने इसकी खेती के लिए दिखाया है वह उत्साहवर्धक है| कई नए युवाओं ने केंद्रीय उपोष्ण बागवानी संस्थान से परामर्श करके इसकी खेती सफलतापूर्वक प्रारंभ की| लखनऊ में कानपुर रोड के बन्थरा में श्री धीरेंद्र सिंह और श्रीमती सरिता गुप्ता ने लीज भूमि पर स्ट्रॉबेरी की खेती शुरू करने के लिए 2015 में सीआईएसएच के वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक डॉ अशोक कुमार से परामर्श किया। वैज्ञानिक के मार्गदर्शन में उन्होंने चांडलर किस्म के 500 पौधों के साथ इस उपक्रम की शुरूआत की और पहले वर्ष में सफलतापूर्वक अच्छी फसल का उत्पादन किया। वर्तमान में वे 10,000 से अधिक पौधे लगाकर अच्छी गुणवत्ता वाले स्ट्रॉबेरी का उत्पादन कर रहे हैं| उनका उत्पाद माल एवं स्ट्रॉबेरी के विपणन कर्ताओं के बीच में अपनी पहचान बना चुका है | यह विशेषज्ञों से परामर्श और दिए गए सुझावों को कार्य रूप में लाने का ही फल है कि एक बड़े क्षेत्र में स्ट्रॉबेरी की खेती करते हुए यह किसान प्रतिदिन 40 से 50 किलो स्ट्रॉबेरी का उत्पादन कर रहे हैं जिसका उन्हें बाजार फरवरी में डेढ़ सौ से 200 रुपये प्रति किग्रा मूल्य मिल रहा है| महमूदनगर तालुकेदारी (मलिहाबाद) गांव के एक अन्य भूमिहीन मजदूर श्री विरेंद्र रावत ने पूरे उत्साह के साथ स्ट्रॉबेरी की खेती शुरू की। उन्होंने 1000 पौधे लगाए और हर वैकल्पिक दिन 5 से 6 किलोग्राम फल प्राप्त किये और उन्हें 200 रुपये प्रति किलोग्राम की दर से आसानी से बेचा।
Farmers in areas nearby Lucknow have identified strawberry as one of the paying crops and thus its cultivation is being adopted by many of the youngsters for increased income. Although, strawberry was grown in subtropics for last few decades, but the enthusiasm which has been observed during last three years is remarkable as the farmers are not only consulting scientists from research institutes, but also they are ready to get the planting material transported from long distant places of Himachal Pradesh. This has empowered them for the cultivation as well as innovations in the cultivation of this exotic fruit crop under subtropics. Mr. Dhirendra Singh and Mrs. Sarita Gupta at Banthra, Kanpur Road, Lucknow consulted Dr. Ashok Kumar, Senior Scientist from CISH in 2015 for starting strawberry cultivation in the leased land. In close association with scientist they started this venture with 500 plants of variety Chandler and successfully produced a good crop in first year. Now, they are more than 10000 plants and a good quality strawberry is being produced which has created their identity in malls and among the strawberry suppliers. Learning by doing and consultation with expert for different problems faced in strawberry had made them successful. Gradually, they have become the expert of this crop and are able to guide others for its cultivation. This resulted into cultivation of strawberry at a larger area and these farmers are able to harvest 40 to 50 kg strawberry on alternate days with a market price of Rs.150/- to Rs. 200/- per kg from February onwards. Another land less farm worker Shri Virendra Rawat of Village Mehmoodnagar Talequdari (Malihabad) also started strawberry cultivation with full enthusiasm. He planted 1000 plants and every alternate day he is able to harvest 5 to 6 kg of fruits and has become self employed and sells his produce at Rs. 200 per kg easily.
